Why did you decide to major in MAE?
I was inspired by my father who is an engineer and I liked to play with building things and was interested in learning more about how it works. Also, I saw an article once that few engineering students made a soccer ball for poor people that generate power by playing with it. The article made me want to explore the real engineering field. Among the various engineering fields, I chose mechanical because I was interested in how things move.
What is your favorite thing about living in Buffalo?
Playing with snow. When I was in freshman year, I had never seen the snow covering tables and chairs outside. I could lay down everywhere that was originally walkways. And you have a chance to see Niagara Falls easily when others have to travel!
What was your involvement outside the classroom?
Pi Tau Sigma and volunteering for orientation.
What makes your UB story unique or noteworthy?
UB is another chapter of my life since I came to the US and graduating high school in Oklahoma. Then I moved to a Buffalo which is a completely different state with different environments to experience more about the US and make new friends. And I am glad that I will be continuing my Master program at UB!
What is your advice to current and incoming MAE students?
Hard work proves your GPA and the chances of various opportunities. Still, enjoy the weather and friends around you. And do not be afraid of contacting your professors. Good luck!
