Applied Research at MOD-PAC Prevents Workplace Injuries

Mod-Pac.

Assistant Professor Lora Cavuoto recently completed an applied research project at MOD-PAC, a local manufacturer of folding cartons and personalized print products, to proactively address concerns related to injury risk.

Cavuoto led the project which included an assessment of past injuries, work station and job analysis, and the development of training materials and an observation-based tool so that MOD-PAC supervisors could screen jobs for ergonomic risk. Impacts from Cavuoto's project include a dramatic reduction in lost-time injuries, imporved job designs, and increased efficiencies.

The project, coordinated through The Center for Industrial Effectiveness, was supported in part through funds from a Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) grant.
