Research Interests

My research focuses on the development and evaluation of systems that improve the health, safety and abilities of people in environments ranging from the workplace to the home, with a particular emphasis on those who have physical limitations. My work has included such things as ergonomics intervention studies designed to reduce musculoskeletal injury risk among workers in construction, manufacturing and healthcare settings, use of digital human modeling to improve home environments and transportation systems for those who have mobility impairments, and testing of products and environments that assist older adults in activities of daily living.

These activities have been funded by U.S. government sponsors such as the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), the United States Access Board, and private industry.
