Entering first-year students
A student applying from high school must meet the minimum requirements of the university. High school preparation should include mathematics through trigonometry, physics, solid geometry, chemistry and biology.
Transfer students
Transfer students are an important part of the ISE department. Approximately half of a typical ISE junior class transfers from other engineering programs, from both UB and other universities. Students from other scientific disciplines such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics, computer science, and psychology are welcome. The time necessary for degree completion depends upon how many of the mathematics, physics and chemistry requirements have been satisfied.
Transfer from other engineering majors at UB
Student in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences can easily transfer to ISE from other engineering majors at any point throughout their programs. Freshman and sophomore level courses that meet the science, math and engineering requirements for other engineering majors also meet the requirements for ISE, making it simple to transfer in the freshman or sophomore years. For more advanced students, it is possible to apply junior- and senior-level engineering courses to the IE degree as technical electives.
