Meherwan Boyce (MS ME 1964) is this year’s recipient of the Clifford C. Furnas award. The award recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in a field of science, thereby bringing honor to the university.
Boyce pioneered online condition-based performance monitoring - a process which optimizes power plants - allowing them to run more efficiently, stay in compliance with emissions laws, maximize the turbine system, and run in a more cost effective manner. He has developed models for various power plants and petrochemical complexes that are used around the world.
He has 45 years of experience in turbo machinery in industry and academia. He is managing partner and chairman of the Boyce Consultancy Group LLC, an alliance of engineering and industrial consultants with keen knowledge and experience in power generation. As a mechanical engineering professor at Texas A&M University, Boyce founded the TurboMachinery Laboratories and Symposium, now in its 45th year.
After graduating from UB, Boyce earned his PhD from the University of Oklahoma.
