Mechanical Engineering Major
Buffalo, NY
I’m a student leader for EAS 199: Engineering Principles and EAS 202: Engineering Impact on Society, which are the introductory engineering courses held here at UB. I’m also a teacher for STEM Outreach where we go into the Westminister Charter School in Buffalo to teach the students about science and engineering.
When I’m not busy doing schoolwork or being involved at UB I try to keep active and get outdoors as much as I can. Some of my favorite outdoor activities are hiking, rollerblading, and kayaking.
I always knew I was going to go to UB, but as most probably feel, entering a big college like this sounded scary and impossible. But after coming into the school of engineering it helped put these fears at ease. All the students come together as a community and we’re always reaching out to help each other even if we’ve never met before. I’ve met some of my closest friends in this school and it’s thanks to the community that I’ve always felt I can stick through engineering, even through the toughest times. Another bonus is the professors are right there with us. Once getting into my majors actual classes it gave me hope seeing these professors who had a passion for their jobs and wanted to see us excel and grow. Bill Wild is also a big bonus to the community but I think after meeting him you all would agree without explanation. So in short what I enjoy most about SEAS is the feeling of family and constant support we all bring each other.
