UB fans will have their first chance to see the reigning MAC champion men’s basketball squad and a women’s team that made its first-ever WNIT appearance during the annual Bulls Madness on Oct. 23.

Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. event in Alumni Arena, which will include a select-a-seat promotion, a photo station and free food for all UB students.

A number of celebrity judges will be on hand for the highlight of the evening — the dunk contest. There also will be a three-point contest and a fan/player shooting contest matching up members of both teams with a fan and/or celebrity.

Bulls Madness comes on the heels of a one-day “ticket blitz” that will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 20 with a special ticket-pricing structure that day for all men’s single-game basketball tickets. The rules of the blitz: 100 tickets for each home game this season will be sold at $8 a ticket. Once the first 100 tickets are sold, another 100 tickets will be available at $10 per ticket and then another 100 at $12. Once that quota is reached, tickets will be sold at their regular price.

In addition, 100 tickets for the women’s game against Canisius College on Nov. 17 will be on sale during the blitz for a special price of $5.

Tickets for the upcoming season are available by contacting the UB Ticket Office at 1-877-UB-There.

Led by first-year head coach Nate Oats, notable games in Alumni Arena for the UB men this season include Big 4 rivals Canisius (Nov. 28) and St. Bonaventure (Dec. 2). The UB women, led by head coach Felisha Legette-Jack, open the regular season with three of their first four games at home, including Big 4 rival Canisius on Nov. 17.

The women will play their first home contest at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 against Clarion, while the men will play in front of the home crowd for the first time at 9 p.m. Nov. 6 against Daemen.
