What I've Done

What types of work have you performed? What projects have you worked on?
Currently pursuing my MBA in NYC, but worked as a Product Engineer at 3AM Innovations

What have been some favorite aspects of your work?
Engineering can take you anywhere, even to NYC for your MBA.

What was one of your most satisfying days as an engineer?
Completing the initial analysis of our product design at 3AM Innovations and seeing that the skills that I learned in EAS 199 were applicable in the real world and were the foundation for our solution.

Was it worth it? What has your engineering background made possible for you? What value has it added to your overall life?
Engineering was definitely worth it, the problem-solving process is applicable just about everywhere. I've worked in a financial services operation for a summer internship, at a super-regional bank in corporate finance and as a product engineer at a startup. I've had a wide array of work experiences up to this point and I'm now pursuing my MBA in NYC. Engineering has opened up many doors as most people hold the profession in high regard; they understand the rigor of the academics and respect the engineering problem-solving process.

Why it Matters

What would you say to the first-year students currently sitting in your shoes?
Stressing about getting my wind turbine done on time and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Take a breath, your project teams aren't going to always be perfect, so try to make the best of it. Your major here won't' dictate the rest of your life, most jobs will consider you given your academic background, so rest assured that you've chosen a good path.
