SolarCity co-founder to present inaugural UB RENEW lecture

Peter Rive, co-founder and chief technology officer for SolarCity, will present the inaugural lecture in the UB RENEW institute’s Distinguished Lecture Series in Energy, Environment & Water Sustainability at 10 a.m. March 9 in 101 Davis Hall, North Campus.

The event is free and open to the UB community. Online registration is requested.

In his talk, Rive will offer an overview of SolarCity’s business, technologies, manufacturing plans and outlook for solar energy.

Rive has helped grow SolarCity into the largest, full-service solar provider in the nation. In his role as CTO, he develops the strategy and direction of SolarCity’s next-generation software and hardware technologies, including battery systems, solar-mounting hardware and solar-module technology.

He also leads the company’s collaborative efforts with the goal of creating a cleaner, more affordable and more resilient way to provide electricity to homes and businesses.

The RENEW Distinguished Lecture Series in Energy, Environment & Water Sustainability aims to promote dialogue and interaction between UB faculty and students and renowned leaders in science, technology and policy in academia, industry and government.

RENEW promotes interdisciplinary research activities to position UB as a global leader in select areas of energy, environment and water.
