UB series to present free films under the stars

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Some of the summer’s biggest movies, including “Tomorrowland,” “Furious 7” and “Mad Max: Fury Road,” are in the lineup for the University at Buffalo undergraduate Student Association’s popular, free outdoor Summer Film Series.

The series opens June 23 and runs through Aug. 28. Screenings will take place on Tuesday and Friday nights at the Special Events Field adjacent to the Student Union on the North Campus and on Wednesday nights on the Hayes Hall lawn on the South Campus.

All screenings will begin at 9 p.m. through July 31; screenings after that will begin at 8:45 p.m. In the event of rain, screenings will move to the Student Union Theater on the North Campus and Allen Hall on the South Campus.

The screenings, which are co-sponsored by Late Night UB – Student Life, are open to members of the general public, as well as the UB community.

SA also will screen two additional films at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 30 as part of Welcome Back Weekend. “Jurassic World” will be shown at the Special Events Field; “Aloha” will be screened in the Student Union Theater.

July 3: “The Interview.”

July 7, 8 and 10: “Furious 7.”

July 14, 15 and 17: “The Water Diviner.”

July 21 and 22: “Ex Machina.”

July 24: “The Avengers.”

July 28, 29 and 31: “The Avengers: Age of Ultron.”

Aug. 4, 5 and 7: “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Aug. 11, 12 and 14: “Woman in Gold.”

Aug. 18, 19 and 21: “Tomorrowland.”

Aug. 25, 26 and 28: “San Andreas.”

Aug. 30: “Jurassic World,” 8:30 p.m., Special Events Field, and “Aloha,” 8:30 p.m., Student Union Theater.
