UB at forefront of driverless vehicle technology

Spectrum News reported on autonomous vehicle testing at UB’s North Campus on Tuesday. The report included commentary from New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul and Chunming Qiao, SUNY Distinguished Professor and chair of UB's computer science and engineering department.

Qiao, who is leading an autonomous vehicle research project at UB, said, "Through the communication between vehicles and other infrastructures around it, autonomous vehicles can be safer than vehicles driven by humans."
