The ACI is a resource and authority for individuals and organizations involved in concrete design, construction and materials. The Institute develops consensus-based standards, technical resources and education, training and certification programs.

Wu will join ACI Committee 318-25, Structural Concrete Building Code, a subcommittee of the ACI Technical Activities Committee. Wu will work on ACI code 318-1W, Wind Provisions.

Over the course of his career, Wu has established himself as a leading expert in wind engineering. He currently serves as the associate editor of ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering and Frontiers in Built Environment-Wind Engineering and Science. He received the 2018 IABSE from the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering for his “outstanding achievement in structural engineering,” early in his career.

Wu and the University at Buffalo hosted the third international workshop on Advanced Wind Engineering Testing and Technology in spring 2019, and he is currently conducting research with UB’s wind tunnel, a device unique to U.S. colleges and Universities. According to Wu, this is another opportunity to advance his professional development.

“It’s a good opportunity to be involved in the code and standard development,” Wu says, “and also more opportunity to communicate with industry professionals.”

Teng Wu joined UB in 2014 after completing his PhD at the University of Notre Dame. His research interests include nonlinear and transient aerodynamics, nonstationary winds, fluid-structure interaction, reduced-order modeling, hurricane hazard modeling, climate change and other topics.
