The senior structural engineer and seismic subject matter expert with Bechtel National, Inc. is currently an active member of ASCE, and serves in several different capacities within the association.

Anderson began her involvement with ASCE as a member of UB’s student club during her time as an undergraduate. She maintained her connection to the association throughout college and into her professional career. Anderson has served in several leadership roles among different ASCE units. She is currently the president of ASCE's recently established Reston Branch of the National Capital Section (NCS). Some of her past roles include secretary and vice president of the Central Savannah River Valley Branch of the South Carolina Section, treasurer and vice president of the Structural Engineering Institute Maryland Chapter and vice president and president of the Catoctin Branch of the Maryland Section. She is also a voting member of the ASCE Nuclear Standards Committee and the Dynamic Analysis of Nuclear Structures Working Group.

The Reston Branch, composed of engineers in the Virginia area hosts monthly technical meetings at the ASCE headquarters located in the city. This group was initially a committee of the NCS, but became a branch with Anderson’s help in October 2017. She is an active member of the Branch, and according to ASCE’s website, the Reston Branch has “a successful track record of serving members form the Reston area with well-attended professional development hour (PDH) and networking opportunities.”

As a voting member with the Nuclear Standards Committee and the Dynamic Analysis of Nuclear Structures Working Group, Anderson and other engineers publish the following standards: ASCE/SEI 4, the Seismic Design of Safety-Related Nuclear Structures, and ASCE/SEI 43, the Seismic Design Criteria for Structures, Systems and Components in Nuclear Facilities. Anderson also serves as a voting member of the American Concrete Institute 349.

Anderson earned a bachelor’s and master’s from the Department in 2005 and 2006, respectively.
