The department was not ranked in the environmental engineering category last year. After adding the environmental and water resources engineering (EWRE) master’s program, the department is identified as one of the top 60 in the U.S.

Individual departments and specialty areas (civil, environmental, or other engineering departments) in the U.S. News and World Report ranking system receive their spot on the list based on peer assessments by department heads in each specialty area. One-hundred and fifty civil engineering departments and ninety-five environmental engineering departments were surveyed to develop the rankings for UB’s Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering.
