3-D printing brings medical marvels to life

The Villages Daily Sun published a story on the potential of 3-D printing and quoted Ciprian Ionita, assistant professor of biomedical engineering and neurosurgery.

Ionita discussed how he develops 3D models of the brain that surgeons then use to test how they will approach a complicated patient. “It is something with human nature that we do a lot better when we have something that we hold in our hands,” Ionita said. “We feel the mechanics of the surgery.”
